Some Basic Home Business Productivity Tips

Once they are in the ClickBank data base webmasters like you and me who are looking for good content and commissions from our web sites can join their affiliate programs and start earning money from sales generated.

Starting an online business is just like starting a traditional business. You have to invest in time and money. Just like traditional businesses some online businesses end up being failures. Success is not an overnight process and there is no guarantee that everyone will have the same success. Anything can be sold on the internet.

Allying a company with several other high volume companies means the company has increased visibility with all of the other companys customers or potential clients. This increased visibility lends itself to increased hits on the companys website, and those increased hits increase the opportunities for sales. One of the biggest questions I see all over the internet these days is: “Is Affiliate Marketing an Online Money Marketing Scam?” If you have spent any time looking for ways to generate extra money from home, I am sure you have seen this many times. Before I try to answer this question, let’s step back and explain what affiliate marketing really is.

Get Ahead and Succeed: Some Basic Home Business Productivity Tips

You finally did it! You’ve taken a brave, big step and have started your own home-based business.

There’s no turning back at this point, and the stakes have undeniably been raised. It’s time to reap the rewards of your courage and hard work. It’s time to earn money. It’s time to get productive.

Here are some tips to help you increase the productivity of your business and receive what you deserve from your home-based business.

Make a schedule and stick to it.

Having flexible hours is one of the best benefits of running a home-based business, but it can also lead to the failure of your business if you don’t know how to manage your time.

Don’t think that just because you control your own time, you don’t need to keep a schedule or stick to a routine. Set a particular time of the day for your business, say every morning from 8 to 12 am. This is especially important if you’re still getting used to working at home. And as much as you can, stick to that schedule. Don’t be tempted to put off your work for a later time in the day because “something came up”. Something will always come up with that kind of attitude. All you have to do is devote a certain number of hours everyday to your business, and you can spend the rest with your family or for leisure activities.

You then need to get your product or service noticed. This means you need to do some internet marketing and advertising of your business. There are many ways to do this. Start this by building a website of your home based business. Make sure the website is easy to navigate with eye catching designs. Have descriptive information and pictures about your product or service as well. Learning from people who are successful will drastically speed up your learning curve and help you achieve your goals. There are many tactics and strategies that you must know about before you start promoting any affiliate program. This actually will save you a lot of time and money, because you will know which systems or advertising methods will bring profit and which will not. Full reviews on Making Money Opportunity here. Proven Money Making Opportunity as seen on CNN Money, CBS and Forbes.

is a lie because the same gurus spend sleepless nights working on the products they sale you. The truth is that for any business to succeed there should some investment in time and money.

As you can see, there is plenty of opportunity here to make money, legitimately. There is no con involved. Nothing illegal involved. Just good business practice. So is making money online through affiliate marketing a scam? Absolutely not!

Avoid distractions.

Don’t work in front of the TV or while listening to the radio if you feel that doing so would distract you. Just because you’re free to do whatever you want while you work doesn’t mean you should do whatever you want. Fulfill your business activities for the day in a conducive area of your home, and until you’re done with them, keep away from those things that might distract you.

Set goals for your business.

You may have one big goal that you plan to achieve in the long run, but it’s also wise to keep less grand and short-term goals. You may aim for one objective daily, for instance, sending out emails to potential clients on Monday, or finalizing your business portfolio on Tuesday. Your short-term goals should also help you achieve your long-term goal.

Have fun.

Avoid being stressed about your home-based business – the reason why you got into it in the first place is because you wanted to be free from the regular troubles of your previous job. Deal with the complications of running a business with passion and determination and you and your business are bound to them with success. Best Money Making Opportunity as seen on CNN, CBS and Forbes! Full details at http://www.money-2007.info

There is one strategy for success though, that goes against the mainstream philosophy that business should be every man for himself. Affiliate programs afford internet businesses a cost-effective means of making money that utilizes similarities with other high volume companies rather than pitting each company against the other.

You can list sales, promotions, discounts, and descriptions of your product or service. Be sure to include links to your website and affiliates. You can also send out free ezines or free information about your product or service. Be sure that the information is relevant and valuable to the person who receives it so they are further enticed to visit your website.

The success of an affiliate program depends on selecting the right product and the advertising accompanying it

A great way to make some extra money is to get involved in a legitimate home-based business. Some of these businesses do require an initial investment, but the potential income makes this small investment worth it. My favorite business opportunity right now is a legitimate

How To Write Profitable Industrial And Technical Product Media Releases

Writing effective technical and industrial product press releases for online media sources can significantly increase your Web site’s exposure.

by Conrad Bailey, Industrial Marketing Consultant

The most common and negative traits online press releases have, is most of them are poorly optimized for search engines, value-less and just downright boring. No wonder so many Web site promoters complain about getting poor results from their press releases. They’ll blame the media, the media’s audience and even the competition… but the real problem is almost always the press release itself.

Call it what you want, a press release, news release or media release, it really doesn’t matter because if it lacks richness in value, relevant keywords and of course, newsworthy content, it’s not even worth distributing. I don’t care how many media sources you send it to, if it fails to reach your target market, nothing else really matters.

Forget Branding and Start Selling

The biggest myth in public relations and in the advertising industry in general is the “need” for branding. Just ask any competent direct marketer about branding, and you’ll get your answer. Branding is for deep pocket corporations that have unlimited funds to throw around… or should I say throw away. Branding is just a poor excuse for what I call simple minded marketing that offers little if any measurable ROI.

Case in point: Did you know the word Coca Colaâ is the second most known word on the entire planet only after the word “Okay?” Yet, it does not stop the Coca Colaâ company from being one of the most aggressive advertiser’s in the world. From television and radio commercials, to sporting events and bulletin boards, Coca Colaâ appears to be everywhere.

With such a huge marketing budget, some people might call all that promotion a form of branding. But I beg to differ, because a closer look at their commercials will tell you they are always marketing to a specifically targeted audience, mainly consumers between the ages 17 to about 35 years old. Why you ask? They are strategically creating new generations of coke drinkers by utilizing clever customer-centered marketing on its widest scale. Obviously, their marketing campaigns go much deeper than just branding. And the same approach should be taken when you write press releases.

Writing An Effective Headline

The headline of a press release is directly responsible for 50% off its success or failure. It is the first words of the release the editor reads, so it better be darn good. Take your time and come up with a headline that offers a solution to a specific problem. Or perhaps ask an open-ended question to build curiosity and generate immediate interest. The best headlines are client-centered messages that express value and/or indicate a solution that people in your target market are dealing with.

The Advantages Of A Sub-Headline

Your press releases should always include a sub-headline or lead paragraph that briefly but accurately explains what the release is about in a manner that indicates why it’s newsworthy.
A sub-headline is often the difference maker in whether or not an editor or prospect will decide the rest of the material is worth reading. Just remember, you must avoid all marketing hype and focus on the news you are providing that hopefully expresses value to the editor’s audience.

The Body of The Press Release

Writing technical and industrial product press releases is not exactly an art like many PR people claim. Just like everything else, you’ll get better with practice. The key however, is to constantly look for and analyze press releases published in various publications… ideally the ones submitted by competitors in your industry. This will give you a good idea of the press releases different media sources that serve your target audience publish.

With a little research you can also learn which press releases online are getting the best results. Many news distribution sites (see examples below) have thousands of press releases marked or listed by popularity. It’s easy to learn which releases are currently generating the most interest by the clicks and/or views they are getting. Thus, you can use that information to create a similar but completely different press release that will generate as much or even more interest. At the very least, by analyzing the press releases your competitors are putting out, you’ll spawn a lot of good ideas for writing highly efficient material.

Some Press Release Writing Tips To Keep In Mind

· Keep it brief, no more than a single page (about 240 words), 4 to 6 paragraphs with no more than 3 to 4 sentences each;
· Remember, you are writing for the editor, as well as your target audience and also the search engines… all of which happen to have different needs;
· Write about the facts just like a journalist’s would. Avoid all sales hype completely or the editor will reject your material;
· Always include keywords throughout the release that naturally ‘flow’ with the copy. Avoid the negative SEO tactic of keyword stuffing;
· Each paragraph should be newsworthy enough and factual-oriented in such a way that it could stand alone as its own press release if it needed to;
· The closing paragraph should offer a brief description of your company’s profile, target market and corporate capabilities;
· End the release with an editorial contact as well as a company contact person’s name, telephone number and email address.

Distributing Your Press Release

First and foremost, you should submit your press release to the many free PR distribution sites available. Most of them also offer paid submission options that can dramatically increase the distribution. Here are my 10 favorite press release submission sites that we have received the best results from. Listed in no particular order.

Online Trade Publications

There are a lot of media directories available online, some are free and others are quite expensive. One of the ones I use is Gebbie Press All-In-One Media Directory at Gebbiepress.com. They offer a comprehensive selection of trade magazines you can access directly from their site free-of-charge. You’ll certainly find some publications that serve your target market… make sure to send them your press release.

I also have extensively used the publications portal Publist.com to locate hundreds of trade magazines, journals and newsletters all over the world. Yes, that directory is free as well, but I have found it needs to be updated, a number of publications on the site are no longer in circulation. Nonetheless, I’m sure you’ll find the site useful for locating print and electronic trade publications that are ideal for your press release.

You’ll also find hundreds of pre-selected trade magazines and publications for industrial, technical and engineering fields on our partner site at, www.IndustrialLeaders.Tradepub.com.
Just ‘Google’ the ones that interest you to locate their Web site or simply request a free subscription. New trade magazines are added on a regular basis.

If You Believe Everyone Is Your Target Market, You’re Really Targeting No One

Your target market is the group of people or companies to which your organization aims to sell its products or services. Well, you say, I want to sell to everyone. Why should I pick just one group?

There’s an old marketing saying that goes like this “Target everyone and you target no one”. Nothing is truer. How can you develop effective marketing strategies and tools without knowing who you’re talking to?

Let me explain with a short story. Take two hunters; one has a shotgun, the other a rifle. They’re both hungry and they’re both thinking duck al’orange for supper. Now, I know you don’t normally use a rifle for hunting duck, but this guy does, and who knows why.

Anyway, the ducks fly over the blind, and the guy with the shotgun jumps up and shoots wildly at the whole bunch. He figures he’s got a shotgun; he should be able to hit one of them. But he hasn’t waited until he sees them and he’s shot too soon. He completely misses the whole bunch, and the ducks veer off towards the hunter with the rifle.

The guy with the rifle (who’s seen the whole thing and is laughing to himself) stands quietly watching them fly overhead. He sites the biggest, fattest duck in his scope, holds his breath and fires. He can’t miss, and he gets to eat duck al’orange for supper that night, while the guy with the shotgun goes hungry.

You can think of your marketing the same way. If you just fire wildly at the whole market using a shot-gun effect, you’re liable to miss everyone. But if you research your target market and take aim at it with carefully thought-out marketing strategies, you’re liable to hit your target again and again.

Does it make more sense to you to fire wildly at the whole bunch, taking the chance you’re going to hit something or to take careful aim, one shot at a time? Sure, your target is smaller, but every shot is going to count! Which means, the chances of hitting your target are that much greater.

So how do you go about defining your target market?

You could start by asking questions. Brainstorm. Talk to friends, family, neighbors. Are they interested in your product or service? Would they buy it? Why or why not?

Whether your target market is business to consumer, or business to business, you’ll want to know who your best target is. Get down to the bare-bone details. Who exactly is your target market? You want to know them well.

If your business has a consumer target market, you’ll want to know:
• Are they women, men or both?
• How much money do they earn?
• What do they do for a living?
• What level of education do they have?
• How do they spend their extra cash
• Are they married, single, divorced?
• Do they have children?
• What kind of lifestyle do they lead?
• What are their attitudes and beliefs
• What are their interests?

And, if your target market is business to business you’ll want to know at least:
• Type of industry
• Annual sales
• Number of employees
• Whether they’re stable
• Their location
• Whether their business is seasonal
• Who makes the decisions

Once you’ve finished, you should have a good idea who your target market is. You might even want to go one step further and write a statement defining your ideal target market client.

Here’s an example for a weight loss product. “Our typical client is a young, married mother in her late twenties to mid thirties looking to lose post-pregnancy weight gain.”

Good luck finding your target market. It’ll help you identify marketing strategies that will work, and it’ll focus your marketing message because you’ll know exactly who you’re talking to.

Planning For The Unthinkable

As a child I can remember going through the tunnel that connects East Boston with Boston holding my breath. Absurd behavior? Sure, but in my mind I was preparing for the time when the tunnel would run out of air.

A friend told me that as a child he taught himself to write with his left hand even though he was right handed. His reason was that he wanted to be sure he could write even if something happened to his right hand.

Emergency planning, disaster recovery – these topics have been in the news a lot lately in the United States. Inadvertently I did it as a kid but it isn’t a subject that as an adult I like to think about. In fact I avoid it!!

As an account executive at AT&T one of my responsibilities was to be sure my customers had disaster recovery plans. Everyone wants their telephone to work no matter what happens. And yet even so it wasn’t something my clients wanted to address. Many thought the possibility too remote. Others had too many other projects on the table that they said took priority.

It is hard for an estate planning attorney to convince someone he or she needs a will. It is only when something happens in a person’s life like a serious illness or death that suddenly what was on the back burner comes to the forefront.

It is only when something dreadful happens that suddenly we wake up to the fact that planning for an emergency is important. When Terry Schiavo was in the news many who didn’t have health care proxies took the opportunity to sign one. After Hurricane Katrina suddenly people are now looking at contingency planning.

Governments too have been challenged where contingency planning is concerned. If there are disaster recovery plans my guess is that few thought about the possibility of everyone having to evacuate their homes. If there were evacuation plans at all then most likely they would have ended by everyone going to a public building. Who would have considered busing people away from the area entirely?

Katrina has been a horrific event for us all. Looking at the lessons though and making our plans accordingly is extremely important.

So one lesson I know I have learned is that I want to be sure that federal, state and local governments have a really clear plans that are coordinated with each other. I want to know about these plans too because I have a responsibility for myself, my family and my business.

As I think about this however I am uncomfortable about my own planning. What do I do in the event of a disaster? I can feel my own resistance in even thinking about it!

Several months ago my mastermind group was talking about backing up their computer files. One member of the group actually took his back up disc to another location to be sure that if a fire or flood hit his office he would still have his files. I was really impressed by that and started to think about it for myself. The possibility seemed remote then but certainly now I do see the point.

What are your plans for your business, yourself and your loved ones? Start to put your own disaster plan together now.

Take action

1. The SBA has an excellent website for preparing for a disaster in your business. Check it out
http://www.sba.gov/disaster_recov/prepared/getready.html

2. The Red Cross has some excellent information for individuals: http://www.ready.gov/npm/individuals.htm

3. Make a list of the people who must know this plan and review it with them.
How frequently should it be reviewed? Select a date or dates and put them on your calendar.

Correct Product Selection For Profit

Product choice is one of the most important decisions that must be made when starting a food concession business. While many components of the concession business are important, choosing the type of food you will sell is the main component of your money-making potential. Choosing the wrong type of food can be detrimental to your business while choosing the right type of food can make you the talk of the neighborhood. There are several ways to choose food. First, choose a food you are experienced with. Second choose a food that is from your heritage. Third you can choose a food that is not in the area you plan to set up. Fourth you can choose a food to that is popular only if you can make the best of it. Finally, listen to your potential customers and what they want.

First and foremost, a great idea for trying to choose what foods you will sell in your concession business is to choose a food you are comfortable with cooking. If you don’t know how to cook lobster, unless you practice lots and learn how to make it very well, don’t choose to cook lobster. If you are a great burger cook, use that to your advantage. Experience is one of the most important traits you can draw upon in this business. If you have any type of food preparation experience and you choose to sell the type of food you are used to, you already have a leg up on the competition.

Secondly, a good idea to help inspire your food choice is to use your heritage. If you are Mexican, you may choose to sell Mexican foods. If you are Polish, you may choose to serve a fast-food form of Polish food. Using things that are in your background is similar to using food that you are experienced making. Many people who choose to let their heritage be a food guide feel more attached to what they are doing. You may feel like you are paying tribute to your history.

Another way to choose your food type is to choose something that is not currently in the area that you plan to set up in. For example, if the place you are going to set up is known as Hamburger Alley, you may want to pick chicken sandwiches for your signature item. Giving potential customers a choice between what is the norm and something unique is always a good way to get them to stop by. They may enjoy a taco now and then.
Do something that is going to make you stand out. This will help your potential customers remember you more easily.

Conversely, the very bold person can try another tactic. You may choose to do something that is very popular where you set up. However, if you choose to make hamburgers on Hamburger Alley, you MUST be the very best at it. If you can make a phenomenal burger, based on other people’s opinion, by the way, you can make a name for yourself as the best burger from burger alley. This is, I must warn you, much more difficult than figuring out something unique to sell.

A final idea about how to choose your menu is to listen to the people that are going to be your customers. Go to a neighborhood hang out or a local shopping district or business plaza near where you are planning to set up. Ask locals about what they think is needed in the neighborhood. Listening to your potential customers, you will start a relationship before you even open your restaurant.

No matter how you choose the type of food that you will sell, you must remember how truly important it is. Placing the utmost of care and consideration on this type of decision is very important. Above every other piece of advice on how to choose your food, be comfortable with what you choose. Going to work terrified everyday that you won’t turn things out right, or worse, not turning things out right is not the way to make a good impression.

Six “Must Haves” For Buying A Franchise

We all know that buying a franchise is a great way to start a new business. Yes it’s true that the initial cost of a franchise is generally more than any non-franchised new business. It makes sense that a franchisor would need to be rewarded, both initially and on an ongoing basis, for their training, assistance, consultation, and guidance. And, remember, the franchisor is allowing you to use their proven business model for your own personal gain.

But generally, in the long run a franchise can be much less costly to start and grow than a non-franchised business due to operating efficiencies, defined processes, and the advertising clout that the franchise name carries. Furthermore, many studies have shown that the success rate of a new franchise five years down the road will far exceed that of any new non-franchised business.

So even though franchises are a great way to start a new business, there is still that level of uncertainty that hovers over any new business venture. Is it really worth taking the risk?

Yes – if you have the following six characteristics:

1) Time. If you thought you were working a lot of hours at your regular 40 hour per week job, be prepared to commit a tremendous amount of time to your new venture. You may have to miss little Joey’s soccer games.

2) Energy. Not only will you have to commit the time necessary, your energy level will need to be at peak level all day. You will be busy. And you will need to set an example for others. Can you do it?

3) Resources. You will need to surround yourself with good quality people. Management, staff, accountants, attorneys, vendors, suppliers, human resources, etc. Systems and procedures will need to be established. And you will likely need a premium location for your business.

4) Skills. Do you really know what you are doing? Is your new franchise relative to your prior work experience? Do you know the industry inside and out? You should.

5) Capital. Everything…I repeat…everything costs more money than you expect. Do you have the necessary capital to get the company off the ground? Do you have the necessary working capital? Do you have the resources to raise additional capital when needed down the road (note that I said “when”, not “if”). As a rule of thumb, try to predict all of the capital that you will need. Then, when you are done, double it. And do not rely entirely on the franchisor to tell you how much capital will be needed.

6) Desire. The most important characteristic of all. Is this really what you want to do? This is a financial but more importantly a life changing decision. It is not a decision where you can easily change your mind once you get started. Most likely it is a decision that will affect your life 10, 15, or 20 years down the road. Talk to others around you; your spouse, your kids, your friends. Make sure everyone is on board. Do you have the passion?

So if you want to buy a franchise, then welcome my friend. I hope you will find the perfect match. And, if you can pass the test above, then you will likely succeed. Good luck!

Beginner’s Guide To Network Marketing (MLM)

Network Marketing, also called MLM (multi-level marketing) can be very profitable. Many companies operate in this way, for example Amway, Kleeneze and the Body Shop.

The main requirement for this business is to be good at selling. Don’t despair if you’re a shy wallflower as selling is a skill that can be learned, and in most network marketing companies you should be provided with plenty of training materials and help.

When you join a network marketing company there are two ways of earning money. Firstly, by selling the company’s products to the customer, you would then receive a percentage of the products you sell. Secondly you can also recruit other sales agents, while continuing to sell the products yourself. You would then receive commission for every sale your agents make also.

Although this is a profitable way to earn money, don’t be fooled by claims that it is easy to earn money with little effort.

It can be possible to get into a position whereby you build a large network of sellers, who provide you with an income with their efforts, but you have to put in the work and it doesn’t happen overnight.

If you are good at selling and are prepared to put in the work then this could be a very good way of making money.

There are a wide range of products available to make money. Choose a company whose products you like and perhaps would buy yourself, as this will make it much easier to sell.

Also make sure there are not too many agents for the company in the area you would like to work. This would make it difficult to sell a reasonable amount.

Try to find a proactive, experienced and helpful agent when deciding on which company to join. They will be the ones providing you with the most training and advice. Some agents provide regular training sessions and online forums to help and encourage each other.

Request information from several people or companies before making a decision.

You don’t need any qualifications to join. You will be trained by the company you join to sell the product you choose.

Once you have chosen the company you wish to sell for, you will need to purchase their basic kit - this can be as little as a short training guide and some catalogues, to a package of products, stationery, catalogues and training materials. You should not be required to buy the products yourself to sell on. It is common however, to be expected to pay for some samples of the products at up to £100 ($200).

It is then up to you to make contacts to sell the products. You can sell through friends and their friends, work colleagues, special events, schools (check first), holding a party, or anywhere you can leave a catalogue in their business or office.

To work in network marketing you will need energy and resilience and a tough skin to cope with the many rejections!

At the start you may only be making a small amount, but successful people with a big network can make £100,000 ($200,000).

However this is not common and the average earnings are around £5,000 ($10,000) a year.

Pros

If you are comfortable with selling and have or can make contacts you could persuade to sell to, you can make good money.

Good way of meeting people.

Flexible working hours.

Help, training and encouragement from your upline (the person that you joined the networking company through)

Ready-made business

Cons

Lot of time and effort required.

Could lose friends if you try too hard to sell products to them or try to make them become agents too.

Start up costs (although usually relatively low - less that £100 or $200)

Must be good at selling, or be willing to learn how to sell.

Visualize To Succeed

Success means different thing to different people. Some may think that to succeed you must be a good parent. Others will think that to succeed means that your bank balance is a million dollars or more. While others have a much more simpler approach – they think that if they wake up still breathing, then they’ve succeeded.

Regardless of what your definition is for Success, they all have one thing in common – they first began as a thought.

Every human striving for the elusive Success Experience all imagined what success needs to be for them. They chose at a subconscious level what it will take for them to feel that they have succeeded in their life.

At this point most of us stop using our minds to picture Success, and start using it to figure out a way to get there. The tragedy is that to get ‘there’, you must continually use your mind to see the end result.

Here’s an example. You are a professional sports player, and all your life you have wanted to be the person holding the trophy at the end of the season, having worked with your team to beat the other players in the competition. The idea came to you when you were 9 years old. And since then, you have gone to bed each night imagining yourself holding that trophy and seeing yourself having completed the task that will make you a Success.

Well, at least one (and most likely thousands more) very famous athlete did just that. Michael Jordan thought constantly about winning the NBA championship, and this set him on a path that saw him become one of the most dominating players in the basketball game ever seen.

Turning on the power in your brain to see what the result is that you want to achieve is the fuel that will drive your actions.

Not only does visualizing your ultimate result in your mind give you the energy to chase after the goal, it prepares yourself for the eventual outcome of success. Because you have thought and worked and strived toward your ultimate goal for so long, when it eventually comes your way, you know in the very depth of your being that you deserve it. You have every right to enjoy the money, accolades, compliments, and praise that your successful result will bring.

Instead of reacting to your success with shock – the “What Do I Do Now” Syndrome – you will accept your success as totally normal. After all, you have seen yourself achieving this result for years, so it is about time, right?

So, how do you work on visualizing your success? The good news is you already do what is needed for this to work. You daydream. Sounds a bit weird, I know, but spend time imagining yourself doing the thing or having the thing that you have determined to equal success. If it is having a wonderful family, you imagine that - the peaceful home environment, the well-adjusted children, and the confident and assured parent that you are. If Success for you is running a large organization, see yourself in your office (or favorite beach), your staff members working hard and happily on their tasks, with happy customers and clients calling you about how they enjoy your service immensely.

By spending time each week seeing in your mind yourself reaching the Success you want, you are mentally preparing yourself for that event. And in doing so, your body reacts to it in the only way it can – it starts to act out what the mind wants. It will start to find ways that it can achieve this vision in your mind, because the body and mind are two parts of the same coin. What one wants, the other has to as well.

So, even if you don’t believe in any of that mind-body stuff, it is fun seeing yourself doing what you so desperately want to do (or be, or have), and will help to motivate you to achieve your goals.
